You Can Have Better Sex During Menopause

August 4th, 2017

Renew Youth gives women treatment options for improving sexual desire, response, and orgasm.

At menopause, the vast majority of women will experience symptoms that affect their sex lives. Unfortunately, far too many women are unaware that these symptoms can be treated and improved.

According to a survey presented at the North American Menopause Society, 81 percent of women didn’t know that vaginal atrophy (which causes vaginal dryness and painful intercourse) is a medical condition. Almost half of the women surveyed thought declining sexual health after menopause was normal, and only 32 percent had ever tried to get help with their symptoms. A quarter of the women had tried over-the-counter remedies, while just 7 percent had gotten hormone therapy.

The fact of the matter is, hormone therapy is the single most effective treatment for female sexual dysfunction in menopausal women. Unlike over-the-counter remedies, which typically target one symptom at a time and do not provide complete relief, hormone therapy provides a comprehensive solution that will improve all aspects of your sex life.

At Renew Youth, we recommend pairing hormone therapy with additional treatments designed to target the specific symptoms that bother you the most. Here’s what our treatments will let you do:

Reignite Your Desire

Menopause causes hormonal imbalances that can directly affect your desire for sex and your body’s ability to respond in intimate situations with your partner. With hormone therapy, we can bring vital hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone back into balance. Healthy progesterone will support your sexual desire, while estrogen and testosterone will help improve sensitivity and response during sex.

We also offer a variety of additional treatments for women who may need extra help with desire, arousal, and response. For example, we can prescribe L-Arginine or Sildenafil to improve blood flow to the genitals and heighten arousal, or Apomorphine to stimulate dopamine production in the brain and enhance sexual response.

Relieve Vaginal Dryness

Estrogen is essential for healthy skin—and this includes your vagina. As estrogen levels drop at menopause, your most delicate skin can become dry and inelastic, making sex unpleasant or even painful. Fortunately, we offer estrogen treatment choices that can help. We can either prescribe bioidentical estrogen replacement as part of hormone therapy, or we can provide a topical estrogen cream that will relieve vaginal dryness without affecting your overall hormone balance.

Have Better Orgasms

If you’re having trouble reaching orgasm after menopause, low testosterone could be part of the problem. We can raise your testosterone to a healthy level with hormone replacement therapy and make sure it is balanced properly with your other hormones. If you need extra help, we can offer treatments like female stimulation cream or oxytocin spray. Oxytocin is a hormone that is released during foreplay, and women need huge amounts of it to reach orgasm.
